Our drive through The Rockies did not disappoint. At points the roads were quite narrow, there were no guardrails, the speed limit was 65, and there were steep plummets just off the shoulder.
We arrived at Mesa Verde Nat’l Park and hiked Point Lookout trail which took us to the top of a huge plateau that we saw driving in. Great views, I’m really running out of adjectives to describe the things we’ve seen, it’s all so breathtaking. I’ll let the pictures do the talking (although they just don’t do justice to the scale and magnitude of these sights). We also saw our first lizard!
The temperature here dropped very quickly once the sun went down. We could see our breath and were standing around our grill for heat (no fire pit at this campsite). I went to bed wearing sweatpants over my jeans and a flannel shirt while curling up inside of a sleeping bag with a blanket on top. Our northern route home may pose a challenge.
That third pic, the mountain, is ridiculous!
